PaperPort 10.0 Instructions
1. Go to the Xerox copier.
2. Type in your code # and press Enter.
3. Select the Network Scanning tab.
4. Under Template Name, select your login id.
5. Place your item to be scanned on the paper feeder.
6. Press copier's Start button.
7. Go back to your computer.
8. Double-click the Image Retriever icon in the system tray (circled in red below).

The “Image Retriever Settings” box will appear, as shown in step 9 below.
Note: If the Image Retriever is not visible, open it from the Start Menu. Click Start, then select ScanSoft PaperPort 10.0, then select Image Retriever. (See the picture below).

9. Click the “Get Now” button (circled in red below).

10. The scanned document will shortly appear inside of PaperPort. An example is shown in step 11 below.
11. From inside of PaperPort, you can right-click your document, and “Save As Type” *.pdf or another suitable format.
A PaperPort document can be saved to the following file types: pdf, tif, bmp, jpg, gif, png, pcx, dcx, htm, max, exe. See an example below.

Optional: There are icons in the bottom of the PaperPort
screen which allow you to handle your scanned document in different ways. You
can drag and drop your scanned document over one of the icons, for
example, the Outlook icon
.
If you drag and drop your scanned document over the Outlook icon, your document will automatically attach itself to a new email message ready to be sent. Read further to learn about the other icons.

Adobe Acrobat
The Adobe Acrobat icon will convert your scanned document to an Acrobat file.

Excel
Word
PowerPoint
The Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint icons will convert your scanned document to Excel, Word or PowerPoint.
Note: The conversion process will render the scanned document to look different from the original. Some additional formatting may be required.

OmniPage Pro
The OmniPage Pro icon will send your scanned document to the OmniPage Pro program. This program is a good option for converting any scan into an editable document that can be saved in a variety of programs. OmniPage Pro will more accurately convert scanned documents than Word or PowerPoint.
See the picture below for an example of a scanned document that has been sent to OmniPage Pro.

Press option 2 (Perform OCR)
to convert the document to
editable text.
The editable document will appear on the right-hand side of the OmniPage Pro screen. See an example below.

At this stage you can press option 3 (Export Results)
to save the document. A
dialogue box with multiple save options will appear. OmniPage
Pro documents can be saved in the following formats: opf,
htm, rtf, xls, lit, xml,
doc, pdf, txt, rtf, xml, txt, csv,
wav, wpd.

Web Publisher
The Web Publisher icon will convert your scanned document to a web page.

Printer
The printer icon will send your scanned document to the printer.

Recycle Bin
The Recycle Bin icon will cause your scanned document to be deleted.
g.
ScanSoft
Forms Typer
The ScanSoft Forms Typer icon will send your document to the ScanSoft Forms Typer program. This program allows you to enter a text field anywhere on the document. The document must then be saved back to PaperPort. Then you may convert the document to another format using the options in PaperPort.

WinZip
The WinZip icon sends your scanned document to the WinZip program. The WinZip wizard will appear. You can then specify where to save the zip file.
